History of Centritech
The company was founded in Richmond, Virginia as West End Data Processing Services in 1982 by Jay Brown. At the time, the company focused on dBase programming, MS-DOS, and Clipper programming. The company was an early participant in FIDOnet, a network of computer bulliten board systems (one of the predescessors of the Internet).
In 1994, West End Data Processing Services changed its name to Short Pump Computer Consultants and moved in the direction of more computer repair, hardware repair, network engineering, LANtastics, Windows-based networks, structured cabling installation, thinnet cabling, and started hosting websites in the earliest days of the then-fledgling Internet.
In 2002, Short Pump Computer Consultants changed hands from father to son and Scott Brown became the new CEO of Short Pump Computer Consultants.
In 2005, the company changed its name to Centritech and moved its focus to convergence technologies (voice + data + video) and leveraged its network engineering expertise to become Richmond's leading experts in open source Asterisk-based VoIP and communications servers.
